The image and associated caption have been shared more than 160,000 times on Facebook. Today, I did the nails of a new resident at work, and while we were going over the colors, she told me she wanted light. The only thought that came to my mind was, ‘LIGHT?! That’s not funny.’”
“I asked her why she wanted something light, and she said, ‘My hands are ugly, I don’t want to draw attention to them.’ I then replied gently, ‘Your hands tell the story of your life. They tell of your love stories, they show your care, and they speak of your adventures. These hands have touched and held things that most people can only dream of doing one day.’ And after that, she chose pink for her nails.”
