PART 4: The Truth Comes Out
A big bank paper showed up on the screen behind her. It showed Philip sending company money straight to a private account owned by Linda. More papers showed up on the screen. They showed fake build bills, stolen loans, and company money used to buy private trips and designer clothes.
People in the room started talking fast. Linda looked at Philip. “You told me that money was my work pay!”
“Shut up!” Philip yelled at her.
Giselle kept talking calmly. “For three years, Mr. Clayton took money from my investment company to get illegal loans. He also paid for work that was never done.”
Another paper showed up. “Fiona Clayton signed her name on fake deals, and Lola Clayton took money for ads she never made.”
Lola turned off her phone video in panic, but it was too late. Thousands of people had already seen it live.
Arthur looked at Fiona. “You told me those papers were for my doctor bills!” Fiona looked away, unable to answer.
Herman walked up to the stage with a gray folder. “Last month, Mr. Clayton tried to use Vane-Stafford company shares to get another big bank loan.”
Philip yelled at Giselle, “She is my wife! Those shares belong to both of us!”
Herman spoke calmly into his mic. “The shares belong to a family trust set up twelve years before she met you. You have zero rights to them.”
The screen changed again, playing a voice recording from Philip’s office.
“Giselle never reads what I give her,” Philip’s recorded voice laughed. “I tell her it’s for house papers, and she signs it.”
The real Philip couldn’t move.
The worker on the recording asked, “What if she asks questions later?”
“She won’t. She trusts me, and she isn’t smart anyway,” Philip’s voice said.
Giselle looked at him. The stolen money hurt, but hearing him make fun of her trust hurt much more. He thought her love was just something he could trick.
Linda suddenly pulled a small memory drive out of her bag. “I have recordings of all our private meetings!” she shouted to the crowd.
Philip looked at her like she was a traitor. “What are you doing?!”
“You were planning to blame all the stolen money on me!” Linda yelled back. She looked at Giselle. “He even hired someone to write false mental reports about you, Giselle! He wanted to tell a judge you were crazy so he could take all your money!”
Giselle felt a sharp pain in her chest. Philip didn’t just want to leave her; he wanted to ruin her mind and take everything she had. She held onto the podium and looked straight at him.
“You thought I was weak because I was quiet,” Giselle said.
Philip took a step forward, crying. “I was scared! I made bad choices!”
“A bad choice is picking the wrong road,” Giselle said. “What you did took years of planning and lies.”
