My conclusion: I consider a length of approximately mid-thigh to just above the knees to be appropriate. It is modern, looks neat, and respects the academic environment.
What do you think? Should the length be determined with a ruler, or should it be left to the individual’s discretion, unless it is completely unreasonable?
