“We can talk about it after the ceremony.”
“No.”
His eyebrows pulled together.
“Jessica.”
“We are talking about it now.”
Natalie moved beside me.
“What exactly has been changed?”
Corrine folded her hands.
“This is a private family matter.”
Natalie looked around the bridal suite.
“The bride is family.”
The wedding coordinator appeared in the hallway.
Her face was flushed.
“I’m sorry. Is there a problem?”
I turned toward her.
“Were you told Rosalie would be making the bridal entrance?”
The coordinator hesitated.
“Yes.”
“By whom?”
Her eyes moved toward Corrine.
“I was told everyone had agreed.”
“I did not.”
The coordinator’s face fell.
“I would never have changed anything if I had known.”
“I understand.”
My mother arrived moments later.
She took one look at the room and knew something was wrong.
“What happened?”
I held her gaze.
“Apparently, another woman is making the bridal entrance at my wedding.”
Her expression sharpened.
“Why?”
Corrine stepped forward.
“It is personal.”
“If it is personal enough to rewrite my daughter’s ceremony,” my mother said, “then it is personal enough to explain.”
Corrine looked toward Kevin.
He did not help her.
I followed his gaze down the hallway.
That was when I saw Rosalie.
She stood near the entrance to the ceremony space wearing a pale blue dress.
A bouquet rested stiffly in her hands.
She was not smiling.
She did not look excited.
She looked trapped.
Her shoulders were hunched.
Her eyes stayed fixed on the floor.
If she wanted to steal my entrance, she was doing a poor job of enjoying it.
I walked toward her.
Kevin reached for my arm.
“Jess.”
